Our Camp Staff Team plays a huge role in making our camps a success, and we pride ourselves on having qualified, highly skilled, and enthusiastic instructors running our programs. It takes a wide variety of people to make up our Camp Team, each bringing an individual skill set specific to their position.
Specific Positions at Appleby Camps Include:
Senior Staff: Program Directors, Head Lifeguard, Camp Office Administrator are posted in Early October

As the Head Instructor you will be responsible for providing the lead instruction in the program as well as overseeing the work of other instructors in order to ensure a safe, productive and enjoyable experience for all campers. Applicant should be a post-secondary educate or equivalent in a related discipline. Head Instructors will develop, plan and supervise their summer camp program, will lead and instruct specialized activities with campers and Instructors. They will also create schedules for activities that all for the highest quality experience and ensures flexibility to coordinate with other programs. Head Instructors are also responsible for all administrative tasks specific to their camp. University/college degree or diploma is an asset. Applicants for this position should have completed min. 2nd year university/college.
As the Instructor, Level II, you will be responsible for directly supporting the Head Instructor within specific sports or arts area. The Instructor, II will work as part of a team to ensure a safe, productive and enjoyable experience for all campers. This position requires a high level of experience and quality leadership skills. Level 2 Instructors will assist in planning as well as participating in activities with the campers. They will also maintain a positive relationship with campers, parents and other staff. Level 2 Instructors will provide instructions and run activities confidently in front of groups or campers. Applicants for this position should have a minimum of a secondary school diploma and have thorough knowledge & previous experience in specific area of instruction (Sports, Arts, Science or Other Programs)
As the Instructor, Level I, you will be responsible for providing support to the Head Instructor and the Level 2 instructor within a specific camp program. The Instructor Level I will work as part of a team to ensure a safe, productive and enjoyable experience for all campers. Instructor Level 1 will actively participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day including activities, meal times, games etc. Applicants for this position should have completed a minimum of Grade 9 and/or be 15 years of age.
Under the supervision of the Head Instructor, the Volunteer Instructor will provide assistance within a specific program area. The Volunteer Instructor will participate as part of a team offering support and ensuring an enjoyable experience for all campers. Applicants for this position should have completed min. Grade 8 and or 14 years of age and will work closely with the Head Instructor providing support within assigned areas.

By the end of the program all Leadership campers will be certified in Standard First Aid and CPR – C (which is the level of first aid they would need to volunteer at Appleby Camps)
The Before/After Camp Care leaders will assist with the implementation of the Before and/or After Camp Care program. The role will report to the Before & After Care Supervisor. Leaders will facilitate a high-quality program, running various activities specific to age group. Applicants for this position should have completed a minimum of Grade 11 and should engage campers in fun, recreational and variety of age-specific activities. Instructors will communicate daily with parents in an open and supportive manner and will respond to the individual needs of the campers and establish a safe pick up and drop off for all campers.
