On Thursday, October 19, Appleby students and employees will be participating in the school's 48th Annual Walkathon.

A much loved school tradition, Appleby's Walkathon first began in 1969 and raised $2,800. Since then, the school community has raised more than $920,000 for various local, national and international charities. This year's goal is to raise $65,000 and we challenge participants to surpass it. Funds raised will be donated to support organizations including: United Way of Halton & Hamilton, the Oakville Community Foundation and Aim For Seva. To see what’s in store for the exciting day click here to view photos from the 2016 Walkathon.

All students should be registered for the Walkathon by Friday, October 13. Many students will have completed this last week, however, if you did not get a chance, please visit the event webpage. An online participant profile will be created for each student. The profile will enable them to share their participation with friends and family and track the progress of funds raised. If you would like to support your son/daughter, or any other participants, click here. Tax receipts are automatically generated and will be sent to the e-mail you provide. For additional information on this year's Walkathon please visit the Contact Us page.

I encourage everyone to play a role in helping make this year's Walkathon the best one yet. There are several exciting volunteer opportunities available for parents, grandparents and alumni interested in supporting participants by directing and cheering our students along the route. The length of volunteer time is very flexible - from two hours to the duration of the event. If you would like to learn more about volunteering, please e-mail Caroline Fleury, Walkathon committee parent volunteer. If you plan on participating in the Walkathon, please contact Heidi Ludwick, global education coordinator.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2017 Walkathon!

Marg Hagey
Assistant Head of School, Co-Curricular Programs and Director, Student Leadership
