David Manbert Class of '57

A second generation Old Boy, David Manbert attended Appleby College from 1948 to 1957. David enjoyed playing sports and earned Colours in Hockey and Football, was captain of the First Hockey team and played quarterback for the First Football team. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, he was Head Prefect of Colley House (1956-57), Sergeant of the No. 3 Platoon of the Cadet Corps (1956-57), played in the cadet band, and was a member of the Coronation Choir along with his younger brother Ray (Class of 1960). After graduating from Appleby, David attended Bishop's University and later returned to Appleby as a faculty member (1964-1994). David taught Geography and served as Head of Department (1969-1994), coached football and hockey, served as Athletic Director (1974-1987), helped introduce softball to the school, chaired the Independent Schools' Athletic Director's Association and was a founding member of the Appleby College Quarterly magazine.
