Mark Samuel '82

Mark Samuel attended Appleby College from 1972 to 1982. During Mark's time at Appleby, he was a Prefect in Powell's House (1981-82), played on the First Soccer, First Tennis, First Swimming (captain in 1981-82, broke the school record in the 100-metre backstroke) and Track teams, was a photographer for the Argus and was awarded the Gold Optimates, Ontario Scholar distinction in Geography (1981-82) and Biology. Mark is a graduate of the Harvard Business School (1986) and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Samuel Manu-Tech Inc., a fifth generation, Canadian family-owned business, that specializes in the processing, manufacturing and distribution of steel and other metals as well as publicly traded plastic. Since graduating, Mark has continued to maintain strong ties to the school, serving as a member of Appleby's Board of Governors (1992-2003 and 2010-present) and as President of Appleby's Alumni Association (1992-1997). Appleby's Samuel Quadrangle and the Samuel Academic Resource Centre are named in recognition of the Samuel family's contribution to the school.
