Sergeant-Major Harry W. (Sarge) Bailey

Sergeant-Major Harry W. (Sarge) Bailey was a member of Appleby's faculty from 1949-1966. A member of the Irish Regiment of Canada, Sarge was active as a reserve officer until 1958. Harry was a physical training and cadet instructor, oversaw the gymnastics display, led the boxing program and ran the Tuck Shop. Under Harry's leadership, Appleby's Cadet Corps won many prizes. He is remembered for his kindness, dedication, and sense of humour. In 1966 Harry joined the Milton School for the Deaf, where he taught until his retirement in 1972. After retiring, Harry established a fitness program for senior citizens in Oakville and oversaw the program until 1983.
