How do I apply?

1. Click on the “Employment Opportunities” button

2. (If you have NOT created a profile)

  • Click on “Careers Sign In”
  • Choose Build New Profile
  • Upload your resume and cover letter
  • Fill in Information and click “Finish”

3. Once you have created a profile

  • Choose “Careers Sign In”
  • Choose your position to apply for
  • Click “Apply Now”
  • Answer questions and choose “Submit”

 

When are positions posted?

Program Director Positions are posted late November/December

March Break Instructor Positions are posted in late January

Summer Instructor Positions are posted in February

Volunteer Positions are posted once all Instructor positions have been filled (aiming late April/May)

 

What are the minimum requirements to work at Appleby?

Every Instructor must have a valid Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search (must have done this on or after Sept 1. 2015)

Instructors must also have a current Standard First Aid and CPR C (must have done this on or after Sept. 1 2014)

How many weeks will I be hired for?

Depending on which position you are applying to, and how often it is offered throughout the summer you may be working anywhere from 1-10 weeks!

If I am a returning staff do I still need to apply?

If you are a returning staff member you still need to apply through HR and ensure all qualifications are up to date.

 

How can I become a volunteer?

We would love to have you apply to volunteer with us! When you see the Volunteer Position posted on the HR site, you can follow the steps and wait to be called for an interview.

 

What do I need to be a volunteer?

We look for enthusiastic, pro-active individuals preferably with a background working with children. Upon a successful interview, selected volunteers are required to have their Standard First Aid and CPR C (must have done this on or after Sept. 1 2014). Successful volunteers are also required to get a Police Check done (must have done this on or after Sept. 1 2015).

 

When and how much do I get paid?

You get paid the 15th and 30th/31st of the month. Rates of pay depend on years of experience, education level and position responsibilities.

 

What do I wear every day?

On Mondays, Fridays and days you are on Before/After Care or on Greeter shifts you need to wear your staff shirt. Other days you can wear a t-shirt (appropriate for camp), shorts, running shoes and a hat.

 

What are the hours of camp?

Camp runs from 9am-3:30pm. Instructors are expected to be at camp ready at sign in for 8:30am and stay until all their campers are picked up or until 4pm. You may be scheduled for a Before or After Care shift in which case you would need to be here at 7:15am for Before Care and stay until approximately 6:15pm for After Care.

 

 

What about absences?

There are only 10 weeks of camp, and you might be working a few of them. We really expect our Staff to attend each day of camp unless an illness or family emergency arises. If there are other reasons you need time off please let the Director know ahead of time, if you are sick please call the Director AND the Camp office to make sure we get the message ASAP!
