Is your camper eager to increase their independence and spread their wings? This summer, we are excited to offer campers the opportunity to have the incredible experience of overnight camp, close to home!

Appleby Overnight is a program designed with camp families in mind - many are interested in an overnight experience for their children, but the 4-week programs typically offered at other overnight camps can seem daunting. Let us help ease your camper into the world of overnight camp by hosting them overnight for a 5 night stay!

During 3 weeks in July, campers can choose a one-week camp from our wide variety of program options and add an overnight stay from Sunday until Friday. The camp day runs as usual from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. After the camp day concludes, our overnight campers make themselves at home on our beautiful campus, enjoying games and activities into each evening, as well as campfires, complete with songs and marshmallows! 

Worried about your camper getting home sick? Don’t be! Our overnight program is packed with fun-filled activities in the evenings and on campus events that will keep your campers engaged and excited during their stay. Get ready all the amazing stories about your camper’s experiences of overnight camp when returning home! We believe this program is the perfect opportunity for those interested in experience overnight camp at Camp Kandalore in the future.   

For Appleby Overnight campers, afternoon and evening programming are all included, as are all meals and snacks. Our hand selected, specially trained Summer Boarding staff live alongside campers in the boarding houses. They are available day and night to offer support and guidance to the overnight campers. Our experienced Boarding Staff run all the programming, accompany campers to meals, check campers into camp each morning and, of course, make sure campers are comfortable in their rooms at the end of each fun-filled day! 

Living accommodations are onsite in one of Appleby’s four boarding houses. Campers are separated by floor and by gender identity. Campers are likely to have a roommate, and yes, we do take requests! 

Campers will arrive Sunday afternoon between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Families are welcome to support their campers move into their rooms. At 4:00 p.m. sharp, the overnight experience begins! Campers will be taken through welcome activities, get to know you games, followed by a yummy dinner and a thorough tour of campus to get to know the beautiful space they get to call home during their time at Appleby Overnight! 

Boarding staff are eager to help support your campers through each step of their day, supporting each camper’s independence! Staff will support waking up campers and bringing them to the dining hall for a full, hot breakfast before the camp day starts and will ensure they are checked into their camp program area for the day. At 3:30 p.m., Boarding Staff will pick up overnight campers from their day camp programs are dive right into all things overnight! Oh, and as a bonus, each Wednesday of Appleby Overnight includes a campout in tents, so be sure to bring your sleeping bags! 

Space in this much-requested program is limited each week, so register early! We are thrilled to be offering this experience and can’t wait to have overnight camp adventures with our campers!

  • Week 3: Sunday July 5, 2026 to Friday July 10, 2026 
  • Week 4: Sunday July 12, 2026 to Friday July 17, 2026 
  • Week 5: Sunday July 19, 2026 to Friday July 24, 2026 

Times:

Campus Drop-Off: Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

  • Arrivals are on the Sunday, prior to the program start, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Parents / Legal guardians will accompany their Campers to the specified boarding house they will be staying in to meet with an Appleby Overnight Staff to check-in. 

Campus Pick-Up: Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  

  • Pick up takes place on Friday afternoon, between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Parents / Legal guardians will pick-up their campers from their designated Day Camp Program Pick-Up area.  
DAY CAMP OPTIONS

During 3 weeks in July, campers can choose any of the One-Week Camps from our wide variety of program options. The camp day portion of the program runs as usual, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.   

Day Camps

During the day, Appleby Overnight Campers participate in our amazing Day Camp Program. Appleby College offers one of the largest summer camp programs of any Canadian independent school, attended by over 5,000 campers each summer. Programs are carefully designed and expertly instructed, delivering fun and engaging skill-building activities.

These leaders help campers build skills in a variety of sports and encourage them to challenge themselves through different adventure programs.   • Science & Success Camps: Promoting the love of engineering and hands-on learning, our Science & Success Camps give campers the chance to experiment, build critical thinking skills, and think outside the box to develop innovative solutions to problems. ACCOMMODATIONS AND MEALS

Living on campus is a big part of the Appleby Overnight experience! Campers will stay in one of our four air-conditioned boarding houses, each offering a welcoming, comfortable, and social environment. Campers are commonly paired in double rooms, with shared washroom accommodations, by age, gender identity—and yes, we do accept friend requests!   

Each boarding house features cozy common rooms where campers can relax, play games together, or get to know each other. Common rooms are all equipped with a microwave, fridge (stocked with a variety of nutritious snacks), and filtered water system for campers to access at any time. Upon Campers arrival, all rooms are set with fresh linens. Campers are reminded to bring their own sleeping bag for the mid-week evening campout!   

Meals are a highlight of the day! Our beautiful dining hall serves three nutritious, buffet-style hot meals daily, all prepared on-site by Appleby’s exceptional culinary team. Fresh fruit and snacks are always available, and we’re happy to accommodate most dietary needs and allergies with care and attention. We ask that applicants please list all restrictions and allergies at the time of application.

WHAT TO BRING

Appleby Overnight Campers will participate in a wide variety of activities both in the day and in the evening. Here is a useful list of things to bring for First-Time Campers unsure of what they might need during overnight camp:  

  • 2 towels 
  • Personal Toiletries 
  • Swimming Gear and Swimsuit 
  • Sport Clothes 
  • Close Toed Sport Shoes
  • Pool / Water Shoes  
  • Regular clothes (for each day of the program)
  • Warm sweater
  • Water Bottle 
  • Backpack 
  • Sunscreen 
  • Warm Pajamas (the AC in the boarding house is quite strong)
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Flashlight
  • A positive attitude and sense of adventure! 
EVENING PROGRAMMING

Our afternoon and evening on-campus programming is designed to both be fun, and to also provide campers with ample opportunities to immerse themselves in the overnight camp experience for the first time. Some examples include:  

  • Team building games and activities   

  • Classic camp games and activities like capture the flag and camp song sing-alongs!  

  • Opportunities to utilize our incredible facilities, basketball, soccer, rock climbing, beach volleyball, swimming, and frisbee golf, just to name a few!  

  • Campfires by the lake, complete with marshmallows and storytelling!  

  • On-Campus Outdoor Sleep-Out. We’ve got the tents, all you need is your sleeping bag! 

  • Karaoke  

  • …and more! 

STUDENT CARE

With the health and safety of each camper as our utmost priority, we provide 24/7 supervision for campers for the duration of their stay.   

Our caring and supportive boarding staff live alongside campers in the boarding houses and attend all activities with campers, including the Evening sleep-out! Campers are not left unattended during their stay at Appleby to ensure campers new to the overnight experience feel supported. 

Our trained and experienced team is passionate about recreation programming and are certified in Standard First Aid and CPR-C. They are thoroughly pre-screened and participate in Appleby's rigorous pre-summer orientation and training program. 

Campers also receive support from additional on-campus staff and security. Medical staff are present on campus daily at Appleby College’s Health Centre to treat or care for students, if needed. 

If a camper becomes ill, injured, or requires additional medical care, Appleby Overnight Staff will notify their parent, guardian, or emergency contact. The camper must be picked up within one hour of notification.

FEES, WITHDRAWAL, AND REFUND POLICY

The 2026 Appleby Overnight Fees are as follows: 

Single Week Program:  

Starting at $1537*  

  • This price is inclusive of tax and 1 standard camp option. 

  • HST tax is applicable to all boarding programs and the corresponding day program.   

Boarding program fees include: 

  • On-campus shared accommodations. 

  • Three buffet-style meals daily plus snacks and fruit. 

  • All programming and 24/7 supervision. 

  • Appleby Overnight Swag. 

Withdrawal and Refund Policy:  
Notice of Participant withdrawal must be made in writing to the Camps office if attending Camp (camps@Appleby.on.ca) or the Academic office if attending Enrichment or Credit programming (academy@appleby.on.ca.)  

In a change from our previous policy, all registration cancellations are now subject to a $100 non-refundable fee per week of programming, which will be retained from the total registration amount. This fee applies regardless of the date of cancellation. The remaining balance, if applicable, will be refunded according to our standard cancellation procedures. 

Cancellations to Camp, Enrichment, ESL Day or Credit programs received after May 1, 2026 will not receive a refund. Exceptions to this policy are only given with proof of a medical emergency supported by certification from a legally qualified medical practitioner not related to the Participant, submitted to the appropriate office (Camps/Academies) by the final date of programming. Refunds will not be provided for inclement weather or for days of the program not attended. Changes to the program and/or program weeks must be requested a minimum of 30 days prior to the first day of the program and are accommodated pending availability. 

Cancellations to Before & After Care can be made up until 2 weeks prior to the start of programming, i.e., Before & After Care for Week 4 may be made up until the Friday of Week 2, etc.  

Appleby College Camps & Academies will do everything possible to avoid program cancellations, though we reserve the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances or if the minimum enrollment is not met. In either of these instances, we will accommodate Participants in an alternate program/alternate week or provide a full refund. Refunds will be made via the original payment method used. Note that the 2.4% processing fee originally charged cannot be refunded.

Appleby Overnight can be added as an add-on to any day camp program during weeks 3, 4, and / or 5 of camp. Simply select the camp offering, and then select "Appleby Overnight" as an add-on.

Appleby College is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of campers, students & staff as our first priority. As such, it is important that all Participants & staff confirm the status of their vaccinations.
