Advanced Placement Exams |
![]() |
Please join me in congratulating the 232 Appleby students who will be writing approximately 640 college-level examinations in 31 Advanced Placement (AP) subjects from Monday, May 5 to Friday, May 16, 2025. In fact, of the 232 students, 107 will be writing three or more AP exams! This is an extraordinary accomplishment since AP examinations are recognized at all Canadian universities as well as many U.S. colleges and universities and often allow for placement in advanced-level courses in a student’s first year of university studies. Students may also be eligible for a transfer credit from a Canadian university. Exam results will be available in July and we look forward to learning how our students did. This year has also been an exciting one for Appleby's AP Capstone Diploma program. AP Capstone is a prestigious and innovative two-year diploma program that enhances the discipline-specific study in other AP courses by allowing those Senior One and Senior Two students in the program to further develop their analytic, research, problem-solving and communication skills. Since launching the program in 2016, Appleby has stood out as the largest Capstone school in the country with 24 students who will completing their final AP Seminar exam, papers and presentations, and 25 students completing their AP Research papers and presentations. Congratulations to the students completing their final AP Capstone tasks, and all the best to everyone writing AP exams over the coming weeks. We are very proud of your preparation, consistent efforts, and commitment to learning through the AP program. Dr. Carlos Heleno |

Earth Month at Appleby - Anti-Idling Campaign
A reminder that throughout the month of April, students will be reminding drivers to turn off their cars while waiting in the parking lot. Not only is it an Oakville City Bylaw, but harmful to the environment and your wallet! Every minute of idling pollutes the air, harms lungs, and wastes fuel. By shutting off your engine, you're contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment. Also, for parents who arrive early to pick up their child, please consider parking in the lot and meeting your child there instead of lining up in front of the school. This will assist with traffic flow. Thank you for your support!

Advanced Placement Examinations
2025 Advanced Placement exams begin for Appleby students that have already registered for these exams on Monday, May 5, 2025. The schedule is set by the College Board and can be accessed here. Exams will be largely in digital format this year, meaning students will complete their exams using their Appleby laptops. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure their laptop is in excellent working order. To do so, visiting IT well in advance is required. Students are encouraged to test the College Board app “Bluebook” in advance of their exams as well. They can do so here. Please contact Maggie Hanrahan, coordinator, external programs, with any questions you may have.
2024-2025 Final Evaluation Period
The 2024-2025 Final Evaluation Period is this spring. There will be a special schedule dedicated to summative tasks in the final two weeks of May. Then, there will be two in-person review days to prepare for final exams (these are not stay-at-home days). Finally, courses will wrap up with final exams in the last few days of the school year. Please see the dates below:
Final Evaluation Period: Tuesday, May 20 to Thursday, May 29, 2025
Exam Review Days: Friday, May 30 and Monday, June 2, 2025
Exam Period: Tuesday, June 3 to Wednesday, June 11, 2025
Students will receive more specific details regarding each course’s final assessments, summative tasks, and final exams.
Click here to view the two-week schedule for the Final Evaluation Period along with the schedule for a typical day. Each day will comprise two 2-hour blocks dedicated to specific periods and include dedicated academic support time for students to meet with teachers and prepare for summatives and/or final exams. Note various other details including co-curricular dates, lunch hours, and bus departure times.
Most importantly, this Final Evaluation Period must be treated with the same level of seriousness as final exams in terms of attendance. Appointments should not be scheduled during these times that will interfere with their ability to complete summatives as scheduled.
