PRESIDENT'S WELCOME A Record Breaking Start! What a fabulous start we had to the 2019-2020 school year!
November is a busy month as we get ready for Christmas. At the Thursday, November 14 ACPA Coffee Morning, we will be making ornaments to decorate the Christmas trees around campus. No skills are required, and everyone is welcome. Our Tree Trimming is Thursday, November 21. It is always a fun and festive morning, and takes place from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the Schlesinger Dining Hall. November is also the time to order your poinsettias and wreaths – details will be included in an upcoming issue of Appleby This Week.
Finally, please save the date for the ACPA Spring Social! It will take place Saturday, May 2 from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Our amazing Social Committee has a fantastic event planned, Casino Night. It's sure to be a fun night out!

ACPA in Action Long Distance Parent Orientation a Success The 2019-2020 Long Distance Parent Orientation on September 5 was a great success. We hosted 166 families representing 25 nationalities. As we enjoyed lunch held at the Principal's Residence, families had a chance to become familiar with the school. It is always a fun event as new parents have an opportunity to meet faculty, the leadership team, their New Parent Buddy, and of course, other new families. ACPA Welcome Back Barbecue Grade Parties Each year the Grade Parties provide parents with the chance to connect with other parents and faculty while discussing their children's school life. This year, parents and employees alike all raved about how delicious the food was and Appleby Student Ambassadors and student volunteers were on hand to help make the evenings so enjoyable. Homecoming 2019 Thanks to Kelly Mehlenbacher, ACPA social coordinator and Sisi Tesser, ACPA athletic spirit representative, the ACPA invited an ice cream truck to this year's Homecoming Day celebrations. Over the course of the afternoon 400 ice cream cones were distributed by 10 ACPA volunteers! The ice cream was a big hit outside, while inside, parent volunteers at the ACPA Blue Dog spirit zone handed out popcorn, coffee, tea, and juice. Please click here to see additional photos. ACPA Coffee Morning Thank you to all the parents who came out for the ACPA New Parent Coffee Morning on October 10. It was a fun way to get to know each other. Please click here to see additional photos. Appleby Helps Bring Awareness to Breast Cancer Thank you to Sodexo for their great support of Pink Day in support of the Canadian Cancer Society! They provided hot chocolate, cookies and fruit for the athletics games. Also, thank you to all the parents who donated food and juice boxes, as well as the volunteers for their time. Please click here to see additional photos. Walkathon 2019 While it was a chilly day for this year's Walkathon on October 17, it certainly didn't dampen the enthusiasm of our volunteers! The Walkathon simply could not exist without our community, and students and employees make an exceptional commitment to this worthwhile venture which raises funds for local organizations. Caroline Fleury, Walkathon parent volunteer coordinator and her wonderful team organized the Walkathon volunteers (over 160 people) to make this event a resounding success. Caroline would like to thank her "behind the scenes" team: Kerry McAleese, Vanessa Barr and Jen Latimer. They worked tirelessly, helping whenever and wherever it was needed. Also, a huge thank you to Donna Cappucitti and Olga Guttierrez who delivered treats all around the Walkathon route. All donations this year are supporting United Way of Halton and Hamilton, Armagh House and Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCKS). Please click here to see additional photos.
