Dear Students and Parents,
As shared in Appleby This Week, in preparation for Upper Two this coming school year, students will have the opportunity to complete the Upper Two Civics and Citizenship online course (CHV205) this summer. The five-week required credit course explores the rights and responsibilities associated with being an active citizen in a democratic society.
The course will open on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 and students will have until Friday, July 31, 2026 to finish. Students are encouraged to complete the course at their own pace (asynchronously) and can expect to spend approximately 40 hours (total) to complete the course through various assignments, a summative evaluation, and a final exam. Student work will be assessed during the month of August and a final mark will be provided in November on their Reporting Period 1 report card. Students will be supported throughout the online course by their teachers (Mr. Lindsay and Mr. Suchanek) whose contact information is included in the 'Who To Contact For Support' section below.
To help lighten the course load during their Upper Two school year, students are strongly encouraged to complete the online course during the summer months. Students who are unable to take the online course during the summer will be required to take the course during the 2026-2027 academic year (which will also be online). The course will need to be completed by Friday, March 5, 2027.
In preparation for the course, please review the following information on: how to access the online course and supporting resources; and who to contact for assistance.
