We are excited to update parents and students on Appleby’s Immersive Programme, launching in June 2026!
As previously communicated, this programme is a new and dynamic way for students to explore their interests and passions through hands-on learning in an environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and risk-taking. Our Immersive courses will allow students to dive deep into topics that inspire them, engaging in meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom context and free of academic expectations that align with Appleby’s core values.
The Immersive Course catalogue will be released in the coming weeks, highlighting approximately 30 dynamic and engaging learning experiences based on responses collected during the fall term survey which invited students to contribute ideas for learning options. Students will have the opportunity to explore these offerings and share their top preferences before March Break. Each experience is designed to spark curiosity and growth through activities based on passion-based learning, real-world application, career exploration, environmental discovery, and self-discovery.
A requirement for the Appleby College Diploma
Student participation in the Immersive Programme (Upper One, Upper Two and Senior One) is mandatory for the achievement of the Appleby College Diploma. This year, the program will run from Monday, June 15 to Friday, June 19, following the timing of the regular school day (8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.). Only students taking part in one of the school’s June 2026 Global Education trips will be excused.
Approach to student absence
If a student misses two or more days of the Immersive Programme without an approved exemption, they will be required to independently make up the time missed. Details about make-up expectations will be shared directly with applicable students and parents. Absences due to illness must be supported by a doctor’s note in order to be excused.
Please note that when students are formally enrolled in their specific Immersive Course this year, they will be asked to click a box, agreeing to the attendance expectations outlined above.
Should you have any questions regarding this year’s Immersive Programme please email Immersives@appleby.on.ca. Thank you for your continued support of this exciting new chapter of learning at Appleby.
