![]() Dear Parents & Guardians,
In response to our recent survey of boarding students, your child has indicated that they are interested in participating in Appleby College’s Post-Winter Holiday Break Quarantine programme. We are excited to have them participate and wanted to share with you the following information about the programme.
Overview of Post-Winter Holiday Break Quarantine Programme
Included below is an overview of the school’s 14-day quarantine programme:
Dates: We are encouraging all returning students to arrive in Toronto on January 4, 2021. We do appreciate however that due to limited international flights students may not be able to arrive precisely on this date, therefore we have designed the programme to support students who arrive between Saturday, January 2 and Wednesday, January 6. If your child is unable to arrive in Toronto on these dates you will need to make your own quarantine arrangements and provide the school with the details of these arrangements by completing the following form. Please click here to access. A series of quarantine guidelines can be viewed by clicking here.
Quarantine Duration: Currently, a 14-day quarantine is still required by individuals entering Canada. Please click here for details. While the U.S. and some European countries have adjusted their quarantine time frame Canada has not announced any plans to make similar adjustments at this time. Should this change, we will be sure to let you know.
Airport Transportation: Transportation will be arranged by Megan Snape, coordinator, camps & special projects for all students from Toronto Pearson International Airport. All necessary health-related protocols will be met in the delivery of this service which will be provided by Global Alliance Worldwide Chauffeured Services Ltd.
Accommodations: Appleby’s 14-day quarantine programme will take place at the Courtyard Marriott hotel at 1110 Burloak Drive, Burlington, Ontario. The hotel is located approximately 10 minutes away from Appleby’s campus. Students will have their own room and en suite bathroom. There will also be 24/7 supervision provided by Appleby College staff.
Meals: Meals will be prepared by Appleby’s in-house catering team Sodexo and delivered (contactless) three times per day to each student’s room. Snacks and fruit will also be provided, and options will be provided for dietary restrictions and allergies.
Health Care Team: Appleby has a team of school nurses to address the physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing of all Appleby students, and we will be working closely with this team throughout the 14-day quarantine programme. In addition, all staff have their Standard First Aid and CPR-C qualifications. Any students exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 will be quarantined in Appleby's Health Centre and will be cared for by Health Centre staff.
COVID-19 Testing: A COVID-19 test will be administered to all participants by Appleby's Health Centre nursing team. The test will be conducted sometime between Day 5 and Day 7 of the quarantine programme.
Programming: Students will be participating in on-line classes starting on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 and will continue to participate in the remote learning programme through the end of their quarantine. On the weekends students will be encouraged to participate in an engaging set of online activities which support students’ mental and physical health, as well as providing them with fun and entertainment.
Fees: $5,000 CDN which includes accommodations, meals and programming and will be charged directly to your student’s account. Charges will appear on your December statement (which will be received in early January 2021).
Travel Partner - Corporate Traveller: To assist families with in-bound flight bookings we have enlisted the assistance of our corporate travel partner Corporate Traveller, one of Canada’s most respected travel management companies.
