The action in January has been fast and furious with no time to rest! Congratulations to our student athletes for managing a demanding academic and athletic schedule during this month. Your successes in the classroom and on the field of play act as an inspiration to us all. There are so many great stories from this week. Here are just a few:
The U14 volleyball team went 3-0 last week and continue to improve as their season progresses. Mr. Desrosiers and Ms. Creelman have been quick to point out that opponents have been in awe of the Blue Dogs spiking ability! They have also complimented the play of Alex Fahrlender, Sarah Kosturik, Wes Powell and Dasha Chadiuk. The team setters, Myla Rach and Meredith Brown, have also been exemplary leaders for the squad. Well done ladies!
Sachin Ahuja continues to dominate this season for our senior squash team and went undefeated in all of his matches this week . Coach Thompson has been inspired by the play of this young man and praises his abilities. Sachin consistently plays a great game of squash. He is agile on the court, his anticipation is excellent, his shots are accurate and deadly. If his opponent makes any mistake, no matter how small, Sachin will pounce and play a winning kill shot. But he is a great sportsman, and he likes nothing better than a well-played and hard-fought game. Sachin is in U2 and is playing in the number 1 position on the Varsity team.
Lastly, the difficult and thankless position of a hockey goaltender received high regards this week by Coach Milek. Our varsity boys hockey team took home 2 victories last weekend, but it was the play of his net minders that caught his attention. Jamie Peltomaa secured the victory for the game against St Francis, and Dawson Cox shut out the Bobcats from Bowling Green. Job Well done!
