Appleby College's major fundraising events such as the Gala are an important source of funding for both the A.W.B. Alumni Centre for Athletics and Student Life and our Financial Assistance programme.
A.W.B. Alumni Centre for Athletics and Student Life
Construction of the A.W.B. Alumni Centre for Athletics and Student Life is an essential element in the delivery of Appleby College’s overall education programme.
Adding approximately 40% to the floor area of the school (excluding residences), the facility is designed to transform Appleby’s capacity for indoor athletics and training programmes while combining athletic, academic and assembly use, becoming the school’s epicentre of life where the community can gather, celebrate and promote their Appleby pride. Highlights of the $32 million building include:
- Three gyms (a double gym and a single gym that convert into a 1,000-seat auditorium for school assemblies, guest speakers and full school events)
- New cardio, yoga, spinning, workout spaces and athletic therapy clinic
- Four squash courts (roughed in)
- Six classrooms and additional study and group meeting spaces
- Campus room that will become a central gathering place
- Alumni reception/boardroom celebrating the school’s history and heritage
- College Shop
At Appleby College, we believe that financial need should not prevent great students from experiencing an outstanding education that will help them reach their full potential.
Today, financial assistance is provided to students in the form of bursaries, scholarships, and loans, with 18 per cent of Appleby families receiving financial assistance annually. We have ambitious plans to increase the percentage of students receiving financial assistance to the range of 20 to 25 per cent by 2021.
Appleby’s financial assistance programme plays an important role in the lives of its recipients – both past and present. With the continued support of parents, alumni and alumni parents, financial assistance will have an extraordinary impact on the Appleby community for many years to come.
