Appleby's March Break Camps are organized into four major programs, offering something for everyone ages 4-15. We have Early Discovery Camp designed for younger campers ages 4-7, while older campers will enjoy Sports & Adventure, Arts & Media and Science & Success. Appleby’s outstanding indoor facilities include a gymnasium, multi-use bubble, numerous arts studios, a dance studio, indoor pool, Willis Hall (performance theatre), multi-media labs and state-of-the-art classrooms. These features, combined with expert instruction and small group sizes, ensure a dynamic and fun experience for every camper!

All full-day camps run from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. daily and include a recrational swim and a hot lunch. We also offer extended before & after care programs for all age groups from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to better support your needs.

Appleby Camps is a fully accredited member of the Ontario Camps Association (OCA). The OCA has and continues to be recognized as a worldwide leader in organized camping for children and youth. Member camps must adhere to the highest standards of safety, supervision and quality programming.

We are partnering again this year with Loveable Labels to try and make sure every camper's clothing follows them home after a great week at camp. Please visit their site to place your order before the summer begins.

Early Discovery Camp

Early Discovery Camp (4-7 Yrs.)

Early Discovery Camp

Laugh, play and discover with Appleby's March Break Early Discovery Camp, specifically designed to engage active and creative kids ages 4-7. Whether it’s working on arts & crafts projects, practicing fun sports or laughing while playing traditional camp games, there is plenty of fun to be had! Led by experienced teachers and qualified instructors, the Early Discovery Camp operates in small groups ensuring close monitoring, encouragement and attention. All full-day campers are provided with a nutritious hot lunch in our dining hall. Join us for a fun week of age-appropriate activities including:

  • The “fun”damentals of a variety of sports (soccer, basketball, balloon volleyball, swimming, T-ball & bowling)
  • Arts & Crafts specifically designed for children ages 4-7 promotes creativity and self-confidence while exploring several exciting challenges (mask/puppet making , musical instruments, create artwork, stories, skits, songs and movement
  • Co-operative games and a multitude of fun challenges like freeze tag, parachute ball, circle games and relay races will help youngsters increase hand-eye coordination, control of actions and gain confidence
  • Recreational swim time (included)

Arts & Media Camp

Arts & Media Camp (7-14 Yrs.)

Appleby’s March Break Arts & Media Camp offers an opportunity for campers to explore and develop their artistic talents in painting, theatre, music & movement and digital photography. Taught by experienced artist-instructors, this dynamic camp is designed to provide a “sampler” of great activities selected from our popular summer Arts & Media Camps. Each day campers will be involved in fun activities such as experimental painting, improvisation games, music, sculpting, movement & dance, skits, pastels, photography, scavenger hunts and more! Campers create their own amazing art projects with a wide variety of media and techniques, build confidence and are encouraged to express their creative imaginations! Hosted in Appleby’s music, dance, drama and art studios provide a stimulating environment for campers in small group environments.

All full-day programs include a hot lunch and recreational pool time as well!

Science & Success Camp

Science & Success Camp (7-14 Yrs.)

Appleby’s March Break Science & Success Camp is experiment- based camp, igniting camper’s interest in science and is hands-on fun! This Science Camp promotes the love of science, engineering and technology to campers and is designed to provide a “sampler” of a variety of sciences. Daily programming involves designing, building and experimenting with innovative hands-on projects in a fun atmosphere. In this highly interactive camp, budding scientists are taught to develop their intuitive nature, collect data, study nature, and will learn just how fun engineering & science can be. From robotics, to volcanoes, to discovering slime, to an intro to video game design, to Money Smarts 4 Kids, to exploring nature, campers will use Appleby’s extensive science facilities and computers daily. Groups will be created to match level of computer ability and scientific knowledge.

Our aim is to create interest through participation and every day campers will enjoy science experiments, and tackle creative challenges and hands-on projects. All full-day programs include a hot lunch and recreational pool time as well! Join us for Science Camp this March as it’s wacky and fun and encourages campers’ curiosity!

Sports & Adventure Camp

Sports & Adventure Camp (7-14 Yrs.)

Appleby’s popular Sports Camp gives campers an opportunity to try their hand at a wide variety of sports, games, and team challenges. Blending instruction, competition and fun challenges creates a great experience for all participants. Our staff is an exceptional collection of certified teachers, instructors, assistants and volunteers who entertain/educate daily. This is only a partial list of possible activities that our Exploring the Sports Campers will enjoy: soccer, basketball, volleyball, swimming, kanga cricket, flag tag, dodgeball, floor hockey, scavenger hunts, soccer baseball, capture the flag, team challenges, ultimate frisbee, skittles, and benchball!

Co-operative tasks and challenges help these developing athletes to gain an appreciation of teamwork, adaptability, and respect for instruction and rules of play. Our aim for this camp is to nurture an appreciation of sport and provide an environment where all campers achieve success regardless of their athletic ability.

Grouped by age and ability, participants also realize measureable gains in coordination, confidence and appreciation for various sports and games. All full-day programs include a hot lunch and recreational swim time. Appleby campers get a chance to enjoy the use of amazing facilities including our indoor dome “the bubble”, gymnasium, squash courts and indoor pool.

Hockey Camp

Hockey Camp Jr. (Ages 7-10) & Hockey Camp Sr. (Ages 10-15)

Sharpen your skates and join us in the J.S. Gairdner indoor arena for some skill building and fun this March break! Appleby March Break Camps have joined forces with Ivy Hockey Academy and together we have designed a program for campers ages 7 – 10, and ages 10 – 15 that will engage all hockey skill levels! Appleby Camps is excited to have John MacDonald with over 30 years of hockey coaching experience and the director of Ivy Hockey Academy leading our new March Break hockey camp! Grouping participants by age and ability, Ivy Hockey Academy emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, and fun in a structured and supportive learning environment.

Guided by the Ivy L.E.A.F motto: “Learn. Enjoy. Aspire. Fulfill,” Ivy Hockey Academy’s team of elite hockey coaches and players are committed to helping kids of all ages and skill levels achieve their goals on and off the ice. Whether hockey is just a stepping stone to achieving other life goals, or you dream of playing in the NHL, with the right approach you will be successful. The Ivy Hockey Academy will show you the training methods and secrets that help you get there.

All full-day March Break programs include a hot lunch and optional before and after care program.   Appleby campers get a chance to enjoy the use of amazing facilities including our regulation size rink (80ft. x 180ft.), indoor dome “the bubble”, gymnasium, and indoor pool. On the ice, John and his team will be giving on-ice hockey instruction and running drills and games.  The program will also include dry-land drills run by staff with certified fitness training and kinesiology, and all campers will have the opportunity to go for a splash in the pool at the end of the day!  The staff have a wealth of experience both on and off the ice, including expertise playing hockey at the Junior, College, Professional and International levels.

To meet the safety requirements for our on-ice time, full hockey equipment is required for ALL campers including a CSA approved helmet with a face mask/facial cage/visor and skates. Equipment required: Skates, shin Pads, Hockey Socks, Protective Cup, Hockey Pants, Shoulder Pads, Elbow Pads, Neck guard, Helmet, Jersey, cloves, hockey stick, and mouthguard (recommended). 

All Appleby camps are centered around skill development and fun… and our March Break Hockey Camp stresses the same! Our goal is for campers to enjoy our program, improve as a player, and learn valuable lessons they can apply to the rest of their life.  Come join us this March Break to develop hockey abilities in a positive and inclusive environment! Whether you are an elite hockey player or recreational, Ivy Hockey Academy knows what it takes to improve your game!

Before & After Care

Enjoy the convenience of early drop off and/or late pick up daily while your camper delights in play with camp friends! Campers will find games, arts and crafts, sports, or a space to relax. A snack will be provided. Appleby Camps Before and/or After Appleby Camp Care service is available over March Break Camp and during all Summer Camp weeks. Camp care is available for campers of all ages. Be sure to check off the appropriate camp care box during registration.
