Early Discovery Camps
Early Discovery Camps are designed especially for little campers ages 4-7: Arts Discovery, ports Discovery and Nature & Science Discovery, and Exploring Discovery. We are offering our Discovery Sr. Campers another option, with a different focus each week. Games, events and activities vary weekly with different themes that give campers a fresh perspective. Led by qualified instructors, the programs operate in small groups ensuring close monitoring, encouragement and attention.
Special Note to Parents of Campers Born in 2022: Please be aware that in order to comply with provincial childcare legislation, any child enrolled in Appleby Camps must be at least 4 years of age at the time of their attendance at camp.
Discovery Jr. is designed for campers ages 4-5 years old, and Discovery Sr. is designed for campers 6-7 years old. If your camper is currently 5 and turns 6 during the calendar year, you can decide whether Jr. or Sr. would be the better fit for them, considering when they turn 6, level of maturity, being the oldest vs youngest in the group and other factors that contribute to a successful experience. If your child turns 7 during the calendar year (by December 31st), they are eligible for Discovery Sr. programs and our regular camp options (for campers 7 & older). You can pick which program would be the best fit for them. Please call our office if you wish to discuss.

2026 Weekly Themes
Week 1: June 22–26, 2026: Weather Wonders
Exploring Discovery: This week celebrates the wonders of weather with crafts, science, and outdoor fun, helping children understand the world around them.
Week 2: June 29–July 3, 2026: Time Travelers
Nature and Science: Ice age experiments and timeline activities teach about different eras in an interactive way.
Sports: Jousting relays and freeze dances through time keep campers moving while exploring history.
Exploring Discovery: A journey through time sparks curiosity and creativity as campers experience prehistoric, medieval, and futuristic worlds.
Week 3: July 6–10, 2026: Animal Kingdom Adventures
Art: Children will craft animal masks, paint with feathers, and create jungle murals to celebrate wildlife.
Nature and Science: Bug hunts and habitat crafts introduce nature exploration and observation skills.
Sports: Animal-themed games like frog jumps and yoga poses encourage movement and imaginative play.
Exploring Discovery: This week connects campers to the animal world through art, science, and active adventures.
Week 4: July 13–17, 2026: Storybook Creations
Art: Campers will illustrate favorite stories, make puppets, and create leaf prints inspired by classic tales.
Wacky Wednesday Dress-Up: Princes, princesses, dragons, magical creatures
Nature and Science: Nature-based crafts like leaf printing tie storytelling to the outdoors.
Sports: Obstacle courses and movement games inspired by story characters add excitement.
Exploring Discovery: Stories come alive through art, play, and imagination, fostering creativity and literacy.
Week 5: July 20–24, 2026: Fairy Tales & Fantasy
Art: Magic wand crafts, castle paintings, and dragon masks let campers dive into a world of fantasy.
Nature and Science: Glitter potion experiments mix science with magical fun.
Sports: Dragon tag and knight challenges keep kids active in a fairy-tale setting.
Exploring Discovery: A week of enchantment encourages creativity, teamwork, and imaginative play.
Week 6: July 27–31, 2026: Mystery Week
Art: Detective badges and fingerprint art make campers feel like real investigators.
Nature and Science: Sink-or-float experiments and scavenger hunts teach problem-solving skills.
Sports: Spy crawls and obstacle courses add physical challenges to the mystery theme.
Exploring Discovery: Campers become detectives, solving clues through art, science, and active games.
Week 7: August 4–7, 2026 (4-day week): Art & Music Explosion
Nature and Science: Nature sound walks connect campers to the environment through listening and observation.
Sports: Dance freeze games and movement activities combine fitness with rhythm.
Exploring Discovery: A celebration of creativity through art, music, and movement encourages self-expression and fun.
Week 8: August 10–14, 2026: Magic & Wizards
Art: Wizard hats, glitter spells, and potion bottles bring magical crafts to life.
Nature and Science: Color-changing potions introduce simple chemistry in a playful way.
Sports: Wand relays and magical movement games keep campers active.
Exploring Discovery: This enchanting week blends science, art, and imagination for a truly magical experience.
Week 9: August 17–21, 2026: Glow in the Dark
Art: Neon painting, glow chalk art, and glow crafts light up creativity.
Nature and Science: UV bead bracelets teach about sunlight and energy in a fun way.
Sports: Glow stick relays and glow bowling add excitement to movement activities.
Exploring Discovery: Bright colors and glowing fun make this week unforgettable with art, science, and active play.
Week 10: August 24–28, 2026: Around the World
Art: Campers create African patterns, maracas, and cultural crafts from around the globe.
Nature and Science: Mini rainforests and sensory activities introduce global ecosystems.
Sports: Soccer and simple Olympic-style games celebrate international sports.
Exploring Discovery: A multicultural adventure fosters creativity, movement, and appreciation for diversity.
Arts Discovery Jr. (4-5 YRS.)
This camp is for young campers to begin exploring and growing their artistic talents in an inspiring and motivating setting. Using weekly themes, Arts Discovery campers typically create a piece of artwork, explore music and movement and learn a dance to perform on stage.
The program promotes flexibility, self-confidence, fine- and gross-motor coordination and communication skills. Recreational swimming in the pool is also included in this program. Each week culminates with the campers contributing their talents to the weekly showcase on Thursday afternoons!
Arts Discovery Sr. (6-7 YRS.)
This camp is for young campers to begin exploring and growing their artistic talents in an inspiring and motivating setting. Using weekly themes, Arts Discovery campers typically create artwork, explore music, movement, dramatic arts and learn a dance to perform on stage.
The program promotes flexibility, self-confidence, fine- and gross-motor coordination and communication skills. Each week culminates with the campers contributing their talents to the weekly showcase on Thursday afternoons in Willis Hall.
Exploring Discovery Jr.
Designed for our youngest campers (ages 4–5), Exploring Discovery Camp is the perfect introduction to the magic of summer camp! Each day is filled with a mix of art, sports, science experiments, and traditional camp activities, creating a fun and balanced experience that sparks curiosity and creativity.
All Discovery Camps are led by experienced teachers and qualified instructors who are passionate about working with youth ages 4–5. Campers will enjoy hands-on projects like simple crafts and beginner science explorations, active games that build coordination and teamwork, and classic camp traditions that make every day exciting.
To keep energy high, campers will enjoy a nutritious hot lunch served in our cafeteria, plus pool time under professional supervision, ensuring safety while adding extra fun to their day. Exploring Discovery Camp is all about variety, imagination, and making memories in a safe, supportive setting

Laugh, play & discover with ourSports Discovery Camp specifically designed to engage active and creative kids ages 4 - 5 years old! This all-encompassing program provides exposure to the youngest of athletes to various sport skills as well as arts and crafts, nature discovery, and cooperative games. Using many traditional, yet modified sports, such as basketball, balloon volleyball, bowling, soccer or T-ball, and a multitude of small group fun challenges, the benefits lie in increased hand-eye coordination, control of actions, and in the confidence gained along the way.
Basic game understanding and respect for rules, teammates and opponents are key features and a new, fun theme weekly adds to the adventure. 7 Co-operative games and a multitude of fun challenges like freeze tag, parachute ball, circle games and relay races will help young campers increase hand-eye coordination, control of actions and gain confidence.

Weekly Special Discovery Sr. (6-7 YRS.)
Sr. Discovery Campers (ages 6-7) will have the opportunity to participate in a camp that has one focus per week. This is set up in a similar style to our camps for 7-14 year olds to help ease the transition once they graduate from our Discovery Program. Each week is specifically designed to engage active and creative children looking to try something new or focus on a favourite activity! Games, crafts, swimming and interactive activities will help to keep campers engaged and educated.
Weekly Specials
Week 3 - Lace up those shoes to hit the courts in our Basketball camp. Learn to dribble, pass, and dunk like a pro!
Week 4 - Dance your heart out, make bracelets, and shine like a star!
Week 5 - Batter's up! Softball is sure to be a "hit" among our Discovery Campers.
Week 6 -Spend the week in our Crafty Creations camp where you will get to do crafts and learn about new art mediums throughout the week.
Week 8 - Who will be next on the roster at the World Cup? Soccer camp will allow our youngest campers to focus on bettering, or learning, soccer skills.
Week 9 - We have a large garden on campus along with many other wonderful areas perfect to explore Urban Farming.
