David Boyd

David Boyd was a faculty member at Appleby College from 1974 to 2008. An English and History teacher, David also taught handwriting and was instrumental in developing and introducing Appleby's Writer's Craft and Media courses. When not teaching, David spent his time as Assistant Housemaster of Junior School House, later becoming the Housemaster; he was also Assistant Housemaster of Powell's House. In addition, he coached soccer, hockey, basketball, softball and cricket; wrote and directed numerous plays for the Junior School. He also established the long-running student newspaper Re•Source and designed Appleby's first website. Outside Appleby, David founded TEACH-IT, an international education technology team; received the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Teaching (1999) and authored more than 20 books for children and young adults. His novel Bottom Drawer (1996) was nominated for the Governor General's Literary Award for Children's Text. David currently lives and writes in New Brunswick.
