Since stepping into my new role this past summer, I have truly felt the warmth and spirit of the Appleby College community. From the very first day, the smiles, enthusiasm, and uplifting energy made for a welcome I will never forget.

That sense of community was felt even more deeply this month during an incredible Homecoming Weekend! From the Reunion Social celebrating the classes ending in ’0 and ’5, to the 36th Annual Appleby Community Golf Classic, the 50-Year Club Luncheon welcoming the Class of 1975, and vibrant on-campus activities-each event was filled with laughter, connection, and unmistakable Blue Dog pride. Homecoming beautifully reflected what makes Appleby so special: a spirited, caring, and deeply connected community.

In my short time here, I have had the pleasure of meeting many alumni who have generously shared their Appleby stories and life journeys—each one a testament to the enduring impact of their experiences here. I have met graduates from as recently as last year to one remarkable alumnus celebrating his 81st reunion year. Across generations, one common thread shines through: gratitude and unwavering Blue Dog pride.

As I continue to settle into my role, I am deeply grateful for the warm welcome and inspired by the pride, friendship, and connection that define the Appleby community. I look forward to connecting with more of you on campus, in your cities, and around the world through our upcoming Alumni Socials. Your stories and shared experiences are what make Appleby truly extraordinary.

Homecoming 2025 Recap

What an unforgettable weekend! A huge thank you to everyone who came out and showed their Blue Dog pride at Homecoming 2025.

We kicked things off by welcoming the Class of 1975 into the 50-Year Club with a spirited celebration, followed by a sunny day on the greens at the 36th Annual Community Golf Classic. The festivities continued with a special 25-Year Dinner for the Class of 2000, and Homecoming Day was packed with fun, laughter, and Blue Dog energy at every turn.

We wrapped up the weekend with the Reunion Social, where we celebrated all the milestone classes ending in '0 and '5.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing volunteers. Your time, enthusiasm, and dedication made this weekend possible.

We already can’t wait to do it all again next year! Mark your calendars as we celebrate the classes ending in '1 and '6. See you there!

Reunion Giving Results

Thank you to all alumni who participated in this year’s Reunion Giving Challenge! Your generosity and class spirit made an incredible impact.

We’re excited to announce that the 50-Year Club has won both categories: Most Raised and Highest Participation, an outstanding achievement and a testament to their enduring commitment to Appleby.

In total, the Reunion Giving Challenge raised over $12,600 in support of Appleby College. These funds will directly support the next generation of students, helping to provide the transformative experiences that define an Appleby education.

Congratulations again to the 50-Year Club! You will be honoured on the Reunion Giving plaque in the Headmaster/Principal portrait corridor and recognized in the Winter 2026 Appleby Quarterly.

New Student Early Application Deadline for 2026-2027 School Year is This Week!

As a school, we are both proud and honoured when our Alumni decide to enroll their children at Appleby College and over the past decade we have had the privilege of welcoming back an increasing number of Alumni as parents. If you are interested in enrolling your child for September 2026 but have not yet applied, please contact Sophie Grossman, executive director, admissions. Applications received by Friday, October 31, 2025 will receive notification of their status by Friday, December 12, 2025. Appleby Alumni also have access to the Alumni Family Scholarship. Introduced in 2012 to help encourage more Alumni to consider Appleby as an option for their children, the children of Alumni who are successfully admitted into the school will receive a one-time award of $8,500 to be applied against the school's enrolment fee. Beyond the Shore – Appleby’s Journey in Temagami

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the S. Bruce McLaughlin Northern Campus, alumnus David Gibson ’77 and his wife, Trish Brooks, have created a captivating one-hour documentary that beautifully chronicles Appleby’s 50-year journey in Temagami. David’s connection to Temagami runs deep as he was part of the very first group of student leaders to experience the Northern Campus when it opened in 1974. Their inspiring film, a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of Temagami and Appleby’s Northern Campus, can be viewed by clicking here. Luka Parikh '24

Luka Parikh '24 is a co-founder of the Kingston Homeless Alliance (KHA), an organization dedicated to supporting the unhoused community in Kingston, Ontario. The organization collaborates with local businesses, such as restaurants and bakeries, as well as a team of volunteers to provide essential care packages containing food, hygiene products, and available resources. In addition to direct support, the group is working to reduce the stigma around homelessness by developing an educational handbook and looking to implement programs in local schools. Cultural Observations and Celebrations

Appleby marked the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30. Students and employees participated in Orange Shirt Day (with t-shirt sales supporting the Woodland Cultural Centre), an Orange Heart Garden was installed at the main entrance to campus, and the Walker House Bears hosted an evening memorial honouring students and families impacted by residential schools. On September 29 the ceremonial opening of the Medicine Wheel Garden took place in the Friendship Garden with Indigenous elder Gail Whitlow, who shared teachings about the Medicine Wheel, led a ceremony, and offered tea made from plants grown in the garden.

An empty shoe display was also installed beside the Friendship Garden in honour of the Indigenous children who did not make it home and for those who are still missing. A timeline educating the community about residential schools was installed on the A.W.B. Alumni Centre bridgeway.

On Monday, October 6, 2025, the Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated by staff and students thanks to the hard work of the DEIB Council, International Council, and East Asian and Southeast Asian Affinity Groups, with a special cultural lunch, a lantern decorating activity, and sampling traditional treats such as mooncakes.

In The Night Garden Gala

Appleby College is thrilled to announce its 16th Gala, In the Night Garden, taking place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the A.W.B. Alumni Centre for Athletics & Student Life. This unforgettable evening will bring together alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends for a celebration filled with gourmet cuisine, signature cocktails, live entertainment, and both silent and live auctions featuring exclusive experiences and dream getaways.

Proceeds from the Gala will directly support three critical priorities: Financial Assistance to ensure access for talented students from diverse backgrounds, the Wellbeing Program to promote holistic development, and the development of Cockwell Hall, a state-of-the-art facility designed to foster innovation and collaboration.

Tickets are selling quickly with over 90% already sold! Limited standard tickets are still available for $650, or reserve a VIP Table for 10 at $11,000. Alumni can get involved by attending, becoming a sponsor, donating auction items, advertising in the Gala program, or making a direct contribution.

Appleby's Class Notes provides alumni with the opportunity to update the Appleby Community with news of recent happenings and photos, as well as make updates to your contact information.
