Appleby's Annual Walkathon |
![]() |
On Thursday, October 17, 2024 Appleby College students and employees will be walking (or running) approximately 18 kilometres for charity across Oakville in Appleby's Annual Walkathon! A much-loved school tradition, Appleby's Walkathon first began in 1969 and raised $2,800. Since then, the school community has raised more than $1 million for various local, national and international charities. Funds raised this year will be donated to support organizations including United Way Halton & Hamilton, United Way Centraide (Temagami region), Big Brothers Big Sisters, Oakville & Milton Humane Society, ArtHouse for Halton, and Kerr Street Mission. Students have an online participant profile for Appleby's Annual Walkathon, enabling them to share their participation with friends and family and track the progress of funds raised. If you would like to make a pledge to support a participant, you can access their page by visiting the main Walkathon page and searching for their name. For additional information on this year's Walkathon please visit the Contact Us page. Much of the success of Walkathon has been due to the strong volunteer support we receive from our community. Without your support and participation as volunteers we could not achieve what we have. If you would like to learn more about volunteering, and see the available positions and timing, please click here. I encourage everyone to play a role in this year's Walkathon! If you have any questions about volunteering for the event, please e-mail Jennifer Latimer, Walkathon committee parent volunteer coordinator. As this event takes place outdoors, students are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear and to dress for the weather (pants, long sleeves, etc.). After the Walkathon on Thursday, October 17, there will be one early bus departure at 2:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you at the 2024 Walkathon!
