New Student Early Application Deadline for 2025-2026 School Year |

At Appleby, we are extremely fortunate to be part of an incredible community and so far, this fall we've had a very strong number of applications submitted from current and new families who are interested in having their children join the school for the 2025-2026 school year. If you or someone you know is interested in applying to Appleby for next year this is a reminder that our early application deadline for new students who are interested in starting at Appleby in September 2025 is Thursday, October 31, 2024. Students submitting an application by Thursday, October 31, 2024 will be notified of their status for next year by Thursday, December 12, 2024. To learn more about Appleby's application process, please visit www.appleby.on.ca/admissions/apply. Also, a reminder that Appleby’s second fall Open House will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Prospective students and their families are invited to explore all that Appleby has to offer. Student ambassadors as well as representatives of our faculty, parents and admissions team will be available to answer questions and provide tours of the campus. To register please click here. It has already been a busy month for the Admissions team as we have been on the road in multiple countries speaking with prospective families and alumni, and hosted an Open House this past Saturday. In the coming weeks the team will continue to attend recruitment fairs and meet with prospective families in cities and countries around the world including Vietnam, Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and Bahamas. Reminder to Update Halton Public Health Student Immunization Records
Please click here to view a letter to parents/guardians of students in grades 9 to 12 (birth years 2007 – 2010) from Halton Public Health. It is a reminder of the requirement for students to have up-to-date immunization records on file. For the 2024-2025 school year, Halton Region Public Health will review the immunization records of all Halton secondary students. Parents/guardians will be notified if their child’s record is not up-to-date. As directed by the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA), students may be suspended from school if their immunization records are not updated by October 2024.
Photo Days
Portraits by Mina will be on campus to take individual student photos from Monday, October 21 to Friday, October 25, 2024. Please click here to view the schedule. Students are expected to be in first dress uniform and photos will take place in the A.W.B. Alumni Centre for Athletics and Student Life Multipurpose Room. Middle School Parent & Guardian Information Session on Digital Platforms & Resources
On Friday, November 1, 2024 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Middle School parents and guardians are invited to attend an information session in the Schlesinger Dining Hall on the digital platforms Middle School students are using in classes, such as the BBK12 Assignment Centre. The school’s AI policy for Middle School will also be reviewed. We will also discuss the #WinAtSocial program that is occurring in Home Form this year and share how families can use resources available from the Social Toolkit to continue conversations about social media at home. WeChat and WhatsApp Groups
Over the past several months we understand that a number of unofficial WeChat and WhatsApp groups have been created as a way to share information between parents and other community members. While these groups are not officially affiliated with the school, we encourage all participants to remain positive, respectful, and supportive of one another in their comments and posts and as parents in our community, we kindly remind you to follow the school's Code of Conduct. It was a great day along the route, as well as back on campus as everyone cheered each other on and enjoyed musical performances by Appleby students. So far more than $80,000 has been raised! ![]() Senior One Student Honoured as Youth DelegateOn Wednesday, October 16, Senior One student Jack Riley was honoured by Kadie Ward, Ontario’s Pay Equity Commissioner, and Minister Todd McCarthy, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement. Jack wrote a paper in last year's Upper Two Canadian History class on the “Persons Case”, the decision which finally determined that the word “Person” in the Canadian Constitution would include women. Jack was selected as the youth delegate for the annual celebration of the Persons Case where the panel discussions centred around pay equity among the sexes. |
![]() World Press Photojournalism Exhibit and Bata Shoe MuseumOn October 8, Senior One and Senior Two students enrolled in Media Studies and Communication Technology travelled to Toronto to visit the World Press Photojournalism exhibit and the Bata Shoe Museum. The group contemplated the importance of free press and considered how photo documents are vital for telling stories. At the shoe museum, everyone learned about the history of shoes and the powerful potential of design and fashion. |

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - at Appleby!
Tree Trimming - November 14
The ACPA is hosting its annual Tree Trimming event on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.! All members of the Appleby community are invited to participate in decorating the school for the holidays. At 9:00 a.m., parents will gather in the Schlesinger Dining Hall to meet and socialize over a hot breakfast. Then, trees and decorations will be setup to transform Appleby’s campus! If you are interested in volunteering, please click here to sign up.
A reminder that all Appleby volunteers are required to have a Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Screening completed and a Declaration of Criminal Record (DCR) must also be submitted. Both forms should be sent to Denika Bertoli, manager, events – external affairs & development. If you do not already have a CRC or DCR, please click here for information on how to complete these forms. ACPA Holiday Market

This year the ACPA is excited to offer the Holiday Market over two days. Save the date for the Sip & Shop event taking place on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. This is a ticketed event open to guests ages 19+. Ticket sales will open soon!
ACPA Holiday Market – Saturday, November 23
On Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Holiday Market will be open to the entire community including family, friends and neighbours. Spread the word! The market will feature a variety of vendors and activities for the whole family. Stay tuned for more details! If you are interested in joining the Holiday Market as a vendor, please contact ACPA executive member Sweta Randhawa for more information. Please note, we are full for jewelry vendors and are especially looking for food vendors. We are trying to balance the type of goods being sold at the market so there is an even distribution of choice and categories of items. We want each vendor to have a fruitful experience at the market.
Blue Dog Spirit
Calling all sports fans! Come join the fun as we cheer on our Appleby Blue Dogs! Cheer kits are available to sign out at the College Shop. Home games are a great opportunity to connect with others on campus and rally around our athletes. Appleby’s athletics schedule is available on the school athletics calendar. We hope to see you on the sidelines!
ACPA Book Return and Sale
Donating and purchasing books through the school is a great way to support the ACPA. If you have books to donate, please put them in a bag marked “Donation to ACPA” and drop them off at the College Shop or Nicholas Arts Centre front reception. We sell books throughout the school year so donations are always welcome. If you are looking for a book, please check book availability here. The ACPA book exchange is a great way to buy school books at reasonable prices! If you have any questions about the book sales, returns and donations, please contact ACPA book return representatives Bal Chahal, Yan Peng and Emma Zhang.
Sustainability Shop Sale
The Sustainability Shop is having a huge sale from Monday, October 21 to Friday, November 1, 2024. All hoodies and sweatshirts will be only $10 each and grey pants only $5 each! Come get yours while supplies last. The Sustainability Shop is located in the A.W.B. Alumni Centre for Athletics and Student Life, next to the College Shop and is open Monday to Friday from 11:20 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. Donations are welcome throughout the school year.
Lost and Found
The Lost and Found is located near the College Shop and is open from Monday to Friday, 11:20 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. Lost an item? E-mail lostandfound@appleby.on.ca to ask about items you may have left behind. Please consider labelling all your items as this increases the likelihood of lost items being reunited with their rightful owners.
