Looking Ahead |
![]() |
It's certainly been an incredible fall term and as we look ahead to the coming weeks, we would like to remind you of several significant events for our community. On Tuesday, November 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Senior School performing, visual, and media arts students will showcase their artistic, dramatic, and musical talents during the Senior School Cabaret. We invite you to join us in celebrating their achievements. On Thursday, November 7, at 11:00 a.m., students, faculty, and staff will gather in the John Bell Chapel for our annual Remembrance Day service. We are honoured to welcome alumni Lt. Craig Kingsley ’76 and Major Curran Egan ’08 as our special guests. The service will also be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person, and you can join the live stream by clicking here. Later this month, the Appleby College Parents’ Association (ACPA) will host its annual Tree Trimming on Thursday, November 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the decorating of John Bell Chapel on Thursday, November 21, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The ACPA is also excited to host the Holiday Market over two days this year. On Friday, November 22, from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m., we will host a ticketed Sip & Shop event (ages 19+) for Appleby families and their guests. The Holiday Market will open to the entire community, including family, friends, and neighbours, on Saturday, November 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. More details are available in the ACPA section below. On Thursday, November 28, from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m., Appleby will partner with Dare to Be Youth to host the Appleby College Leadership Conference, a joint event for Appleby students and 300 students from Halton and Hamilton. This event is free for Appleby students, and details have been shared with them via e-mail. Of course, the holiday season would not be complete without our traditional Candlelight Carol Services, which will take place from Thursday, December 12 to Sunday, December 15, in the John Bell Chapel. Students and their families are encouraged to attend the services as follows: Middle One and Middle Two on Sunday, December 15, at 3:00 p.m.; Upper One on Thursday, December 12, at 7:00 p.m.; Upper Two and Senior One on Friday, December 13, at 7:00 p.m.; and Senior Two and Alumni on Sunday, December 15, at 7:00 p.m. Students are expected to attend one service, and parents and guardians are welcome to join any of the services. If you have two or more children attending Appleby, you may choose to attend one service together as a family. Finally, please note that the November long weekend will take place from Friday, November 8 to Monday, November 11, with classes resuming on Tuesday, November 12. Whew! That is quite the incredible list of events and activities that we have to look forward to. It should make for a very exciting and engaging next four weeks and we look forward to seeing you at these upcoming events! Sincerely, Innes van Nostrand |

You will then be automatically logged into the scheduling system and be able to start making your appointment selections. Once you have completed your selections, you will receive an e-mail confirmation including a summary of bookings and Zoom meeting links. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to meet with their child's teachers, Parent-Teacher Conferences will be scheduled in seven minute slots.
Your child’s initial Fall report card, which will include teacher feedback on learning skills and course progress so far, will be available for review on Thursday, November 7, 2024. You are encouraged to read your child’s initial report and in particular the teacher comments prior to your Parent-Teacher Conferences.
