Preparing for the 2025-2026 School Year |
![]() |
This past week the energy and excitement on campus was palpable! From our Blue Dogs in action in the gyms, arena and pool, to rehearsals for this year’s all-school play Jesus Christ Superstar, to an extraordinary DEIB Day, to learning about all the great things planned for next week’s United Way Week student campaign and next month’s Winter Community Weekend. It’s been an incredible start to the New Year! While we look forward to an exciting remainder of the year, the school is also starting to prepare for the year ahead with registration for the 2025-2026 school year for all returning and new students opening on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Starting at 12 noon on January 30, 2025, parents and guardians will receive an e-mail with step-by-step instructions on how to complete the registration form and process. Please note that registration will be open for a two-week period closing on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. The registration form also includes a breakdown of the tuition fee schedule for the 2025-2026 school year. We appreciate that the cost of an Appleby education is a significant commitment for our families. As a not-for-profit charity, we are committed to keeping tuition fees aligned with our ongoing efforts to manage operating and capital expenditures while continuing to provide our students with an exceptional educational experience - from the introduction of Cockwell Hall to enhancements made to the school’s Wellbeing and Financial Assistance programmes. In addition to Appleby’s ongoing philanthropic efforts, as set out in Beacon Appleby, we continue to explore ways in which we can reduce our reliance on tuition fees both in terms of revenue enhancements and cost reductions. We continue to diversify our revenue base and are exploring further opportunities in this area. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to Appleby College. Sincerely, Innes van Nostrand |

Appleby's DEIB Day 2025 was a vibrant celebration of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The day began with Anishinaabe Kwe dancer Christine Friday, whose powerful performance grounded us in the land and its history. Next, keynote speaker Harrison Browne ’11, the first transgender athlete in North American professional sports, inspired us with his journey and his transformative impact on policies and perceptions in sports. Throughout the morning, approximately 85 students from Middle Two to Senior Two took the lead in planning and facilitating engaging workshops. Lunchtime offered a chance for students to share personal stories of belonging and to explore the rich cultural identities highlighted at the ACPA Cultural Fair. In the afternoon, students and faculty participated in immersive workshops led by various community partners, deepening their understanding and fostering connections. Click the button below to view a gallery of photos capturing the spirit of the day. |
From December 4 to 13, a group of students and employees embarked on a Global Experiential trip to Costa Rica. Immersed in the country's breathtaking landscapes, they explored volcanoes, rainforests and beaches. The trip offered more than just scenic beauty—it was an eye-opening journey into environmental stewardship and cultural discovery. The group gained firsthand insight into how local communities protect their land and wildlife, fostering a deep appreciation for sustainability. They connected with locals, practiced Spanish, and embraced traditional Costa Rican customs. Highlights of the trip included hiking through the rainforest, unique culinary experiences, and contributing to meaningful community service projects. |

The Appleby College Parents' Association (ACPA) enjoys a long-standing relationship with Appleby. The ACPA mandate is to support the administration, faculty, students, and parents/guardians of current students and alumni.

Blue Dog Spirit
The ACPA, via the Spirit Committee, is working closely with Appleby's Athletics Department to increase parent engagement for Blue Dog sports teams. A Spirit Parent Captain is needed to help facilitate communication to parents and to encourage attendance at home and away games, as well as coordinate volunteers to provide snacks for athletes and coaches. You can also share this role! The impact was amazing during the fall term and we look to continue to build momentum. This is an easy, fun and rewarding opportunity for local and/or away parents to help inspire athletes and the school. Coaches will send emails requesting volunteers when team rosters are complete (mid-November), but please e-mail ACPA Executive member Jennifer Latimer for more information. Go Blue Dogs!

The ACPA book exchange is a great way to buy school books at reasonable prices!
