Summer Camps Overview

Appleby Summer Camps are organized into five major programs. We have an Early Discovery program customized for younger campers ages 4-7, with both full and half-day camps and weekly themes. Older campers ages 7-14 will enjoy a wide variety of programs in Sports & Adventure, Arts & Media, Science & Success. Also check out our specially designed Leadership camps for participants ages 12-17.

OptimizedImage,OptimizedAppleby Camps feature highly qualified instructors, low camper to instructor ratios, nutritious lunches, and swim time in our indoor pool. Our standard hours are from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. each day with drop-off and pick-up between 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. All camps run on our beautiful 60-acre lakeside campus in southwest Oakville (minutes from the Oakville Go) featuring outstanding facilities in academics, athletics, performance arts and dining.

We are excited to offer our Appleby Overnight program available for 4 weeks in August 2023!  In this special, add-on program, campers ages 10-14 will have the opportunity to spend 5 fun-filled nights away from home, all the while being 'not-so-far' from home!

Instructors are recently certified in First Aid and CPR-C, have passed a police check and participate in Appleby’s intensive pre-camp safety and skills training course. Camper to instructor ratios are low with a target of 5:1 in Early Discovery programs and 8:1 in all other programs. All instructors deliver engaging activities and programs and have experience caring for children in their specific camp program. Many are qualified teachers, coaches, recreational specialists or early childcare educators.

In all our programs we emphasize individual skills development, participation, co-operation and fun! Our mission is to promote discovery, inspiration and competition with friends in a safe, fun and inclusive environment. We take pride in making our camps a family experience with events, games and shows for the whole family.

Appleby Camps is a fully accredited* member of the Ontario Camps Association (OCA). The OCA has and continues to be recognized as a worldwide leader in organized camping for children and youth. Member camps must adhere to the highest standards of safety, supervision, and quality programming.  To learn more about the OCA click here.

*Accreditation does not yet apply to Appleby Overnight

We are partnering again this year with Loveable Labels to try and make sure every camper's clothing follows them home after a great week at camp. Please visit their site to place your order before the summer begins.

Appleby Overnight

OptimizedImage,OptimizedIs your camper eager to increase their independence and spread their wings? This summer, we are excited to offer campers the opportunity to have the incredible experience of overnight camp, a little closer to home than you may expect!

Appleby Overnight is a program designed with camp families in mind - many are interested in an overnight experience for their children, but the 2 or 4 week programs typically offered can seem daunting for first-timers. Let us help ease your camper into the world of overnight camp by hosting them overnight on-campus at Appleby during their week of camp!

During 4 separate weeks in August, campers can choose any one-week camp from our wide variety of program options and add an overnight stay from Sunday to Thursday night. The camp day runs as usual from 9am – 3:30 p.m. After the camp day concludes, our overnight campers make themselves at home on our beautiful campus, enjoying games and activities into each evening – campfires (complete with songs and marshmallows, naturally) included!

Afternoon and evening programming is all included, as are all meals and snacks. Caring, qualified and trained Boarding Assistants staff the program, living alongside students in the boarding houses. These individuals run all programming, accompany students to meals, check them into camp each morning and, of course, do a lights-out check at the end of each fun-filled day!

Accommodation is onsite in Appleby’s four boarding houses, with students and their respective staff separated by gender. Campers are likely to have a roommate, and yes, we do take requests for matches! 😊 Pillows and linens are included, though campers will need to bring 2 towels, one for showering and one for swimming. Campers will arrive Sunday evening after dinner for welcome activities and check-in, meeting their community for the week and getting a thorough tour of campus to get their bearings. Boarding Assistants get the campers up and to the dining hall for a full, hot breakfast before the camp day starts and check them into their program. At 3:30pm, the overnight programming begins! Oh, and as an added bonus, the final night (Thursday) includes an optional outdoor campout in tents, so bring your sleeping bags!

Space in this much-requested program is limited each week, so register early! We are thrilled to be offering this experience, and can’t wait to have week-long overnight camp adventures with our campers!

What Is The Camp Waitlist Policy?

To help place as many campers into programs (and off of waitlists) as possible, we are introducing changes to the waitlist policy for both March Break and Summer Camp programming. When families are contacted by the Camp Office with news of an available spot in one of their waitlisted camps, they will have the choice to either accept or decline the offer, at which time all other spaces their camper is waitlisted for in that week will be released. Families will no longer have the option to decline one waitlisted spot, in the hope of getting into another camp. So please select your camps (and waitlists) carefully! Thank you for your cooperation in helping us get as many campers in their top choice of programs.

Camps Cancellation/Refund Policy

Full refunds will be issued for cancellations of 2024 Summer Camp programs received up to and including May 1, 2024. Please note that this applies to all summer camp weeks, and is a change from our previous policy of refunding up to 30 days prior to any given week of camp. Cancellations received after May 1, 2024 will not receive a refund. Exceptions to this policy are only given in the event of a medical emergency supported by certification from a legally qualified medical practitioner not related to the camper. Refunds will not be provided for inclement weather or for days of camp not attended. Changes to camp programs and/or camp weeks must be requested a minimum of 30 days prior to the first day of camp and are accommodated pending availability.

Appleby College Camps will do everything possible to avoid program cancellations, however we reserve the right to cancel a session of camp due to unforeseen circumstances or if the minimum enrollment is not met. In either of these instances, we will accommodate campers in an alternate program or alternate week or provide families with a full refund. If payment was originally made via credit card, refunds will be processed back to the card on file, less the 2.4% processing fee.

Please note: Full refunds for all March Break Camp Programs will be issued for any cancellations received up to and including February 1, 2024.
