Temagami Reflections
In my Grade 13 year, the director of the program was replaced by someone new, who smartly decided that some experienced Senior Two leaders should return for an extra visit to help him run things. Eight of us were drawn from a lottery, and had the great experience of spending six weeks of our Grade 13 final year in Temagami. We were caught between being students and staff, helping lead the program while avoiding the classrooms!
As a student, Temagami offered many highlights. The greatest of all was, of course, the friendships that formed while battling winds in a canoe, sleeping in a snowbank or singing songs on the bus.
Some specific highlights were bathing in the water hole, running around Knobby’s Knob, completing the five-day canoe trip in two days so we could then lounge for three days just out of sight from Rabbitnose. And of course, the incredible meals at Rabbitnose after eating Spam and berries while on trip.
