Finding Our True North: The Cockwell Hall Courtyard Installation
As construction on Cockwell Hall moves forward, we're delighted to share a meaningful addition to the project: a new art installation in the south courtyard, designed to celebrate where Appleby College has come from and where it's headed.
At the centre of the installation is a compass, a fitting symbol for a school that has always helped young people find their direction. Inspired by the theme Our Roots are Tradition. Our Future is Innovation., the piece honours the history and values that have shaped Appleby while looking ahead to the bold, forward-thinking learning that Cockwell Hall will make possible. The courtyard is meant to be lived in, not just looked at. It will be a place where students meet between classes, families pause on visits to campus, and alumni return to reconnect with friends and the school they love. Over time, we expect it to become one of the most familiar and beloved spaces at Appleby, a backdrop to countless conversations, celebrations, and memories.
Become Part of Appleby's Story
The installation also offers our community a special opportunity for permanent recognition. Gifts of $2,500 or more will be honoured with an engraved plaque within the artwork itself, so your name, or the name of someone you wish to honour, becomes a lasting part of the courtyard and of Appleby's history.
A plaque can recognize your family, celebrate a graduating student, mark your own years at Appleby, or pay tribute to a teacher, coach, or friend who made a difference. However you choose to be remembered, your gift will help shape a space that welcomes the Appleby community for years to come.
We want everyone who wishes to take part to be able to do so. Pledges may be spread over three to five years, making it easier to make a meaningful gift on a schedule that works for you.
